Janice Pritchard is a Reiki Master and practices in Bristol, Glastonbury, Wells, Winscombe and thoughout the Chew Valley.
I learnt the first two Reiki levels in 2001 and became a Reiki Master in 2003 following my own personal healing with Reiki, extensive study and research. I am a Reiki Master Practitioner/Teacher Member of the UK Reiki Federation and fully insured to practice Reiki.
Prior to becoming a Reiki Master I worked in the NHS as an Occupational Therapist and have an additional qualification in Anxiety Management. I have a particular interest in the connection between spirituality and health and use my skills as a Reiki Master to assist people on their healing journey.
I offer Reiki treatments in Chew Magna, at complementary health clinics in Bristol, Wells, Winscombe and Glastonbury and as mobile appointments. I also teach Reiki levels 1, 2 and Master level workshops at affordable prices and run a weekly Share Group in Chew Magna.
What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a method of healing through light touch which helps to promote the body's natural ability to heal itself. It is a gentle yet powerful technique for stress reduction and relaxation as well as personal development on all levels including emotional, physical, mental and spiritual levels.
Reiki ('Rei' means universal and 'ki' means life force energy) is the life force energy that flows through all living things. When your life force energy is flowing freely you feel happy and healthy, if your life force energy is low you can become vulnerable to illness, stress and depression. Acupuncture, tai chi and yoga are all based on the free-flow of this energy in a person.
The healing technique of Reiki is a practice that restores balance and harmony within the mind, body, emotions and spirit through the channelling of healing energy through the hands of the Reiki practitioner, which accelerates the body's own natural ability to heal.
Reiki is a complementary therapy and complements traditional orthodox medical treatments. Medical treatment for conditions of a more urgent nature must be sought.

Who can benefit from a Reiki treatment?
Everyone can experience the benefits of a Reiki treatment including children, the elderly and pets. Reiki promotes healing on all levels including physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. All you need is a desire to heal. Reiki is, however, best avoided with people who have had an organ transplant or are insulin-dependent diabetic.
A Reiki Treatment.
A Reiki treatment is a very simple, non-intrusive process where the client remains fully clothed lying on a treatment couch. Light touch is used to chanel energy in a series of hand postions on or just above the body. A light blanket is used to cover your body and dignity is maintained throughout. Relaxing music is played and a lit candle adds to the peaceful atmosphere.
A full treatment will normally last for an hour and afterwards the recipient experiences a wonderful feeling of relaxation, refreshed and revitalised as the body's energy system becomes rebalanced. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radience that flows through you and surrounds you. It creates many beneficial effects including relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well being.
Following a Reiki treatment it is advisable to drink plenty of water and to avoid strenuous activity or driving immediately afterwards to receive its full benefits.

Where is Reiki used?
Reiki is used in a wide variety oflocations in the UK and throughout the world. These include GP surgeries, hospitals, hospices, complementary therapy centres and cancer support groups including the Penny Brohn Cancer Support Centre in Bristol.
Is Reiki a religion?
Reiki is not a religion and requires no faith to benefit the recipient. All you need is a desire to heal.
Can I learn more about Reiki?
Reiki is a very simple yet effective healing technique that anyone can learn, even children! I run one-to-one and small group one-day workshops teaching Reiki Level 1, 2 and Master Teacher/Practitioner Level throughout the year with dates arranged to suit your individual needs. These workshops include lunch, tea/coffee/herbal teas, Reiki Attunement within the ancient stone circle at nearby Stanton Drew, a Penelope Quest Reiki training manual and certificate.
Level 1 will provide you with all you need to begin giving yourself Reiki treatments aswell as to family, friends and even your pets. This includes:
* Introduction to Reiki; how it works, origin and history.
* Complete set of Reiki hand positions for self healing and healing on others
* Introduction to the human energy body & chakra system and its application with Reiki
* Reiki treatment guidelines: for conducting a treatment & use in relation to other therapies
* Reiki meditation & other applications.
* Demonstration followed by supervised practice of self healing and giving Reiki treatments to others
Level 2 teaches you all you need to know to begin practising Reiki at a professional level. This includes:
*Standards of practice and code of ethics
*Introduction to the original Usui symbols, drawing and the principles of usage.
*Detailed application of the symbols in self-healing and treatments on others.
*Conducting a distance treatment, including multiple methods for application.
*Reiki applied to cleansing objects and space clearing
*Reiki applied to goal setting
*Demonstration and supervised practice of using the symbols so that students leave the training fully confident in symbol usage.
Reiki Master Teacher/Practitioner level workshops provide you with all you need to enable you to teach and attune others at all levels.
Level 1 and 2 one-day workshops run from 10am to 5pm. Level 1 costs £75 and Level 2 costs £100. Master Teacher/Practitioner Level workshops are run over two days and cost £180.
